MY STORY

At age 5 I began my 12 years of piano lessons before moving into classical guitar and then vocal studies. I loved the choral training I received in high school with The Bel Canto Singers, my College Chorale and the time I got to spend with Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians in Delaware Water Gap, PA. I received my BA in Theatre Arts with a minor in vocal performance from Florida Southern College. I continued my training in New York with Emile Renan of NYC Opera for vocal technique and Elizabeth Browning for acting. I studied the classic Musical Theatre dance forms for years; ballet, tap, and jazz, while performing in Equity theatres throughout the East as well as several Off-Broadway shows in NYC including the longest-running musical in the world, THE FANTASTICKS, at the original Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village. I continue to perform and direct local professional and community theatre productions and I serve as the Music and Drama tutor for Bellevue Homeschool Enrichment classes in Pegram, TN. My job is my passion and it is my joy to be able to share this passion with my students. From day one, students learn important foundational techniques to help them boost their skills and self-esteem. Each student has a unique learning style, and it’s my duty to find out what that is and adapt my lessons accordingly.

“Ms. Marilyn and the STAGE STRUCK class have been so wonderful for our daughter. She gained confidence, friends, and a positive role model all while getting extra energy out and expressing herself. STAGE STRUCK was the first extra curricular activity that my daughter went to without me, but I knew she was in great hands when she was bouncing with excitement when she saw Ms. Marilyn every week and glowing when I picked her up at the end of the hour”
